Solad hosted Mr Stefano Marguccio, Deputy Chief Executive Officer (DCEO) of Sustainable Energy for All (SEforAll) on the 30th of January 2026 at Iponri Market, Surulere, Lagos – an operational site developed under the SEForAll Stand Alone Solar for Productive Use (SSPU) Programme, where standalone solar energy systems are supporting micro, small and medium-scale businesses.

At the market, Mr Marguccio observed how Solad’s solar solutions are powering several businesses with various productive use equipment – sewing and embroidery machines, drillers, cutters, washing machines, irons, refrigerators, etc., used by shop owners. The deployed solar solutions have displaced petrol and diesel generators, lowering energy costs, cutting greenhouse gas emissions, and improving working conditions —demonstrating the crucial role of decentralised renewable energy in driving inclusive economic growth.
Solad explained that the Iponri Market installations were designed with a productive-use-of-energy (PUE) approach, ensuring that system capacity, reliability, and scalability align with the real energy needs of market users. This approach supports business growth, income stability, and longer operating hours for traders.

Additionally, the visit also provided an opportunity to discuss policy alignment, financing mechanisms, and data-driven approaches to measuring impact—key pillars of SEforAll’s strategy to accelerate universal energy access, especially as Solad has a pipeline of identified unserved and underserved economic clusters requiring immediate intervention.
Solad’s work at Iponri Market demonstrates how solar solutions for productive use can contribute directly to national energy access goals, climate action, and inclusive economic development. Through initiatives like this, Solad continues to support Nigeria’s energy transition while contributing to global efforts to achieve SDG7 and SEForAll’s vision of sustainable energy for all.
