On Friday 9th of February, Solad showcased its installation of solar stand alone systems at Iponri Market to Dr. Barbel Koffer, the Parliamentary State Secretary of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), Damilola Ogunbiyi, CEO and UN SRSG, Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL), and Chinua Azubike, CEO Infracredit – AAA-rated guarantor.

The dignitaries were shown around the market and were able to witness first hand the immense positive impact energy access from solar stand alone systems has on MSMEs through engagements with beneficiaries in the market.

Solad has deployed 250 standalone systems – a combined installed system capacity of 1.25 MW in Iponri Market, with an additional 200 systems to be deployed by the end of February 2024.

Solad’s aim is to power the entire market in phases with the aid of the Universal Energy Facility (UEF) Stand Alone Solar For Productive Use (SSPU) programme and replicate the successes of this power project to pipeline markets in Lagos and other South West states in Nigeria.
