On Saturday, 27th of April 2024, Solad hosted Hon. Babajimi Benson, Member of Nigeria’s National Assembly, Damilola Ogunbiyi, CEO and UN SRSG, Sustainable Energy For All (SEForALL), Sally Woolhouse, UK in Nigeria’s Head of Economic Development, and Keith Hammond, Head of the Green Growth Team at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, Sierra Leone at Ayangburen market, Ikorodu Lagos.

Solad is the developer and operator of deployed energy assets – solar stand-alone systems to Ayangburen Market.

Solad showcased its installation of solar stand-alone systems powering 140+ MSME businesses of various types in tailors, frozen food vendors, electronics and household appliances technicians and offices.

Solad also showcased a pilot electric cooker and electric bike deployed under the clean cooking and e-mobile initiatives. Solad intends to set-up battery swap services for the productive use equipment, charging the battery components with the installed energy assets in the market.

The dignitaries engaged with numerous electrified business owners in Ayangbunren Market – beneficiaries of the solar power supplied and witnessed firsthand the positive impacts of the installation.

Solad is a grantee under the UEF Stand Alone Solar For Productive Use Programme and has successfully deployed 500 stand-alone solar systems across Ayangbunren and Iponri Markets under the program since its launch in February 2023.

Solad looks to expand operations in Ayangbunren Market, providing power services to more shops and making the Market a major energy hub by utilising the deployed energy assets to provide battery charging and swap services to the Ikorodu local government area.
